Last week, 19 KOTO - Know One, Teach One trainee from the Her Turn Women's Economic Program participated in the VietHarvest CEO Cookoff Event. The event brought together 40 CEOs, 10 top chefs, and 150 guests from charities and social impact organisations to raise awareness and funds to expand the food rescue model to Saigon, after launching their Hanoi food rescue in 2022.
This was an extremely special opportunity for young women to apply the skills they have learnt at KOTO in a professional environment. For the majority, this is their first time on a plane, and for all of them, their first time visiting Vietnam's largest city. Seeing their confidence and communication with guests throughout the event was very special and we know they will remember this experience fondly. KOTO would like to thank VietHarvest and the InterContinental Saigon for providing the opportunity for our trainees to participate in such a special event and evening.
KOTO would like to extend an enormous thank you to the Holiday Inn & Suites Saigon Airport and Alfresco Restaurant who sponsored KOTO trainee's meals and accommodation during the trip. The generosity of these organisations helped make the trip possible, and provide an experience for these young women that they will not forget.
The Her Turn: Women's Economic Empowerment Program is an initiative of KOTO with the support of the Australian Embassy in Hanoi.
